Schroeder formed in 1995 in Toronto, Canada. Influenced by 60’s art rock, 80’s new wave, 90’s Brit pop and grunge, they were part of the live Toronto music scene from ’95-’99. Upon discovering there was an American rock band with the same name, they were briefly (and jokingly) known as Schroeder UK. The band was Mark Atkinson (guitars), David Banigan (bass, bk vocals), Eilleen Buchholz née Thomson (accordion, keys, bk vocals), Joe Ivison (drums), and Sean Browning (lead vocals).
“1997” is a compilation of rare rough-cut demos and live performances found, re-engineered by David Stinson and released in 2020.
